Source-file guidance

Start with the most recoverable capture.

Base Restoration is RAW-first. Exact decoder support and scanner profiles are confirmed before a large transfer so neither partner discovers a format problem after thousands of captures.

Base standard

Camera RAW

Submit the original RAW capture from a supported camera. Preserve the files exactly as captured and retain your own backup.

Sample validation required

DNG and Apple ProRAW

DNG is a container, not one guaranteed camera profile. Camera DNG, scanner DNG, and Apple ProRAW may be accepted only after a representative sample confirms decoder behavior, embedded profile handling, dimensions, orientation, and restoration results.

Preflight exception

Scanner and rendered files

Scanner TIFF or other rendered output is not automatically equivalent to camera RAW. It requires review and an agreed ingestion profile before Base Restoration.

Before a large collection

Validate a representative sample.

Confirm readability

We verify that the actual file—not only its extension—opens correctly in the production decoder.

Confirm capture quality

Focus, exposure, clipping, illumination, framing, and visible debris are reviewed before thousands of frames follow the same setup.

Confirm the output

The pilot confirmation records the source format, requested JPEG or TIFF package, resolution, color space, and delivery organization.

Why there is not a giant extension list

A filename extension does not prove that a decoder, embedded profile, scanner workflow, or capture is suitable. During the founding pilot, BurlyMingo confirms the actual camera or scanner and a sample file before accepting a large collection. A definitive public compatibility table will follow production validation across more devices.
